We need helpers to set up balloon kits, prepare them for shipping, and manage them at local NY/NJ events. Join the team via the contact form, DM, or comment.
On August 29, 2018, our first Baby took to the skies (well, 20 feet high, at least) in a test inflation in a private field in NJ. Everything worked well and was easier than we had anticipated. Champagne punch all around, and full speed ahead with planning events.
We knew we needed a lot of helium to lift a Baby, and we were ready to spend a lot of money to buy it (thanks, donors!). But we had no idea that the tanks would be pink! Like the hats of the same color, what a great reminder of the role women have played in creating and maintaining the Resistance.
Long awaited, our first 2 balloons arrived on August 17, 2018. All smiles at the UPS store, then home for the unwrapping and unrolling! We began planning an initial test inflation so we could learn and do everything, with guidance from balloon experts.
We’ve ordered our balloons, and are getting ready to give them their first home. We’re working every day with expert balloon handlers, insurance agents, event planners, and helium merchants.
Gosh, folks. We asked for $4,500 and got $23,748 from 1,062 donors in 3 days. Thank you all so much!
Now we have to get moving: ordering the balloons, learning how to handle them, getting insurance, setting up events, ordering helium….
